How do I order from the site?
It is not yet possible to order from the site. However you can browse the full range of products, find your local stockist using the store locator or request your FREE copy of the 1860 full colour catalogue .
^When is the best time to place my order?
We would always recommend placing your order as early as you can (especially for group wedding parties) in order to avoid disappointment. Some customers book 6 months in advance while others book a month before. We can take orders even closer to the function date depending on availability of product, however sometimes these incur additional carriage charges which you would be liable for.
^Will 1860 have my sizes?
1860 has one of the largest hire ranges available of morning wear, highland wear and evening wear of any company in the UK. In the unlikely event that your sizes are unavailable for the dates that you have requested we will offer you the nearest available size in the same range.
^How do I know that the clothes will be of good quality?
Our entire stock package has just been completely revamped and is all brand new. On top of this our extensive range of garments are continually renewed and updated so that we only supply you with new looking and new feeling clothes of the highest quality. All garments are individually checked for signs of wear, tear and damage upon return and prior to being sent out for collection.
^When can I try on the garments?
When you place your order a fitting date will be given to you for trying on the garments. This date will allow time for changes to be made in the unlikely situation that the garments ordered don't fit exactly.
^How can I be sure that the clothes will fit me?
We are very aware that for many first time customers this is one of the biggest concerns. However it should not be. Our stores have over 145 years of experience of measuring gentlemen for formal clothing. We have extensive try-on stock in store to minimise the amount of tape measure measurements required. It is of course helpful if you look at the labels inside your normal suit jacket, shirt and trousers before visiting a store as this will form a starting point for trying the stock sizes from.
^How do I place an order?
If you go into any of our stores, our staff will be delighted to assist you through the hire process and fill out your order form. It is advisable to call and book an appointment in advance, especially on busy Saturdays.
^Can I extend the normal period of hire?
Yes, we recognize that some customers want to keep their outfits for longer periods for instances such as a wedding abroad. Please visit any of our stores and speak to any member of staff who will advise you on the extended hire fees for your specific requirements.
^What is the initial payment?
The initial payment when you place your booking is a minimum of 50% of the total order value. Many customers wish to pay the full amount at the time of booking and the choice is completely yours.
^What discounts do you offer?
Please see our Special Offers page for the current offers available or ask any member of staff at any of our stores.
^Can I place an order over the phone or the internet?
You will have to go into a store to place an order as initial payment is required and is not currently available over the phone or internet.
^Do you alter any of the Garments?
No, we are not a made to measure service, however we believe our size range will cater for the vast majority of the population.
^Do I have to leave a security deposit?
In order to hire a suit you will have to leave a £200 deposit (£400 for Highland Wear and Overseas Visitors), by cheque or credit card. The money is not cashed but is held until all goods are returned. Only in the cases of non returned, lost or damaged items will this deposit be cashed.
^What age to Childrens sizes start from?
It is always difficult to clarify an age range for childrens product as all children grow at different rates. It is best to get the child concerned measured at one of our stores to check for size availability.
^What are your prices?
Please see our Price List page for the current prices. Most prices relate to package prices, combining more than one item and giving a saving compared to the individual prices. Individual garment prices are available in store if requested.
^Do you sell Items as well as hire them?
Please ask in store for specific details of which items within our range are available for retail purchase.
^Can I collect my suit or return my suit to a different store?
All outfits must be collected and returned to the store they were booked at.
^When can I collect my outfit and when does it need to be returned?
When you place your order a collection date and return date will be given to you for the garments. If you require your outfits to be collected before this date or need to return them after the agreed date, please ask a member of staff about extended hire options.
